Så här skrev jag i ett feedbackmeddelande till Twitter, angående deras vändning till reklamstöd:
Hello!I have been using Twitter for a couple of months and found the site and service very pleasurable. Among its strong sides are, according to my values, simplicity, technical openness and the abstain from economic interests. I am sad to find two of these soon partly or entirely false, as a consequence of your newly taken positive view on advertising.
Most noticeably, the simple and very attracting look of the site will drastically change if visual or written ads appear on its pages. So will also the now creditably high readability. And these are just the superficial aspects of the general idea of a reduced simplicity.
Secondly I find it sad that the service now seemingly has to take to financial support. I understand, of course, that supplying the service must involve economical expenses. But I have been using it always hoping that it could stay on its own feet, without economical support that would have to affect its users. (In fact, from curiosity, I would much like to know how much it costs you and how you managed to keep it alive without support from ads for such a long time.) Finally I cannot see the recourse to ad support without believing in a underlying interest in profit, upon which I regard even more disappointedly.
My reaction to this discharges into the personal resolution to stop using the service the day upon which I see an ad on the site. I thank you for the service as it has been until now, and I expect my comment to be read and aggregated with, hopefully, other displeased responses.
